The Engine Diagnostic System, designed specifically for the TPE331 engine, consists
of a module of four annunciator lights that will advise
the pilot if a specific abnormal operating condition occurs
for either engine. The system is designed to provide indications
of both ferrous and non-ferrous particles that may be the
first indication of an imminent or catastrophic engine
failure.
The Oil Filter Bypass lights illuminate to indicate that
the respective oil filter has bypassed. There is a sensor
mounted on the side of each engine to detect an obstruction
to
oil flow, thereby allowing the pilot to take timely,
appropriate action, according to his flight situation,
thereby ensuring
safety of flight and precluding possible engine damage.
There is also a pair of annunciator lights for the chip
Detector Light System. If a fine metallic part is drawn
to the engine mounted, magnetic sensor, the respective
annunciator will illuminate and once again advise the pilot
of a possible problem. This will alert the pilot to take
corrective measures immediately and coordinate maintenance
prior to the next scheduled check. This feature not only
will enhance safety of flight, but could also result in
tangible maintenance savings.
